Haitian Playground, 2017

The project calls for the design of a multi-functional sports court for a secondary school in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Sequenced as a series of rooms, the proposal attempts to maximize the available space for play, while providing shaded resting areas for students less interested in sports.

Rather than providing one court, two smaller courts allows for twice as many students to play. Walled gardens with vegetation flanks the courts to provide respit. Given the country's limited material resources, the entire complex can be built out of a modular concrete masonry unit block.
